Hello All,
I’m Natashia

I’d like to think I’m still fairly new at Brandman.  This is my third session, and many more to come (at least that’s the plan).  I am studying psychology with an emphasis in child psychology.  As for career aspirations, I aspire to be a school psychologist.  I currently work with kids and I really enjoy it, and I would like to make a profession out of it.

I think I would like to research all the necessary things to reach my professional goal.  Classes, credits required, programs, testing… everything that I need to know to pursue it.

As for areas of information fluency and literacy I hope to improve upon this term… I really like the suggested ones listed.   I know it’s really important to have reliable sources, and I know how much I would benefit from going beyond my usual outlets.  I’m really an amateur with library databases, so that’s another thing I hope to improve on.

  1. It seems that you and I not only share the same degree path, but we also share the same emphasis! I mainly chose to pursue Psychology for my Bachelors in order to commission as an officer but if that does not work out I am looking forward to working as a school psychologist (adults are too boring). Focusing on research that will help propel you toward your professional goals is a smart endeavor. Not only will you learn more about your educational focus but you will also learn what it takes to become what you want. My research goal is to learn more about adolescent psychology. While that is not the same thing that you are hoping to research, I too hope that it will help me learn more about my goals.

  2. Nice to meet you Natashia! Your post caught my eye because I was also a Psychology major at West Los Angeles College, prior to transferring. I adore children as well which is what motivated me to switch my major to Social Work. It's exciting to see and be apart of a group of people aspiring to change the world around them! Childhood is undoubtedly a critical time in one's development and has far more bearing on our future than we give it credit for. I expect great things from you!

  3. Hi Natashia,

I see that we have many things in common. I wish you the best in reaching your goals and keep going strong in school because you will reach your dreams as long as you give it your best. I’m also pursuing a degree in psychology and I can’t wait to achieve it! I only have 6 more classes to go and I will reach my goal. I hope you are having a great experience at Brandman University because it is a very nice school to attend to. I personally love everything about it and I’m glad that I was able to attend here. I think you should also research everything there is to learn about your topic. It is amazing when someone knows what they are talking about and can back it up with reliable information and proof. I believe you will be able to become an expert in the field of researching. Good luck!
